ECE 5720-3: Optical Communications
Introduction to optical communications from a systems engineering
perspective. Topics include the optical communication system,
optical field reception, photodetection, noncoherent (direct)
detection, coherent (heterodyne) detection, optical digital
communication, fiberoptic detection, fiber networks, the
atmospheric channel, pointing, acquisition, and tracking in space
optics.
Prerequisite: ECE 3510 and ECE 5620, or equivalent
